Advent has arrived! Some of our Christmas decorations are up. The trees in the front and rear rooms are done as is the one that hangs on the front door and my little son has his up in his bedroom with presents already under it! Big son has cleared and cleaned his desk in preparation for his tree. The lights are up on the stairs, landing and in the hall, we just have to put the lights up outside and on the tree outside – new for this year as I managed to find some very bright solar lights. DH usually hangs lights around the kitchen and the rear room but ran out of time yesterday – we sat and watched a silly film yesterday afternoon. I have been making Christmas tree quilts with lights – 1 is finished, the blue and red ones have to have the hand stitching done but now the sewing machine is away from the holidays I have plenty of time to do this.
It doesn’t hang as flat as I would like due to the wiring at the back, something I’ll have to look into for next time – maybe LED lights perhaps buried in the quilt sandwich.
This weeks quilt idea:- Magic Carpet
This quilt measures 45″ by 54″ and uses Art Gallery Fabrics form the Legacy range by Angela Walters – the requirements can be found here:- Magic Carpet fabric needs with the layout here:- Magic Carpet quilt layout It is made up of just three different blocks.
Block 1 rotary cutting info:- Magic Carpet Block 1 rotary cutting info
Block 2:- Magic Carpet Block 2 rotary cutting info
Block 3:- Magic Carpet Block 3 rotary cutting info
All that is left is the binding which is cut into 2.5″ strips across the width of the fabric from a piece measuring 15″, this will yield 6 strips. Join these diagonally end to end, press in half along the length attach to quilt edge as required. Enjoy. Still time to make one before Christmas!
Until next time, Thank you for visiting. x
