Above is the photo album of the box I made as an assessment piece for a C&G. It was created as a memory of a trip I took last year to Singapore, the shapes, colours and interior diagram are all based on the Buddhist Tooth Relic Temple in China Town Singapore. My client was extremely pleased with his ‘box’. Although if I was making it for me I would perhaps include pockets on the outside of the box within the area defined by the gold fabric and on the inside I would use a map of Singapore printed onto fabric with ‘tags’ created from photos again printed onto fabric with ‘strings’ linking these to the areas they where taken. These tags could then be stored in the pockets on the outside.
What an interesting evening! Listening to Rene Carayol has cleared my head, I know where I am going. www.carayol.com
Jay Emery MD of Dingley Dell is very inspirational, go look at his website www.dingley-dell.com
Barclays were there in force, obviously, they were very attentive and extremely helpful with a can do attitude which is excellent to hear in today’s hard times. I have talked my ideas over with Matt from the Jewellery Quarters branch of Barclays, he has given me plenty of good advise even if his corporate shirt is awful and his tie was worse! Fortunately he has a sense of humour.
The patents office were also in attendance, again I was given excellent advise.
If you are thinking of, or have started a business I would strongly suggest you attend one of these seminars if you are lucky enough to have one in your area, if you don’t it would be well worth travelling to an event.
We are off to the Barclays Business Seminar this evening. I have had so many ideas in my head regarding the possibility of setting up a business my note book is filling rapidly.
I have been looking at a fabric cutting system from the States called AccuQuilt. http://www.accuquilt.com , the Studio system looks very promising. I will be speaking to someone about it tomorrow.
